So much baking so little time

It has been a while since my last post. I have been so busy with the babies and all of the baking. It has left little time for blogging. Holidays are always busy for my kitchen. But Valentines is always really busy. My Birthday is the week before Valentine's day and I usually like to make myself my favorite cupcakes. This year I din't make them because we had so much cake already that I didn't want to temp myself anymore. We had left over cake from Brody's B-day This is what his cake looked like. I had so much fun making it, and he loved it! Then my sweet mother made me a cake, which she vowed to practice this year so that next year she could make me a fancier cake. But I loved her's because she made it, and it was special that she made one. When you make cakes like I do, people usually don't make you one for your birthday, they buy you one. Then with the holiday approaching I had to make Valentines for the boys class, and make the best tasting Vanilla sugar cookies you have ever had. I found this receipe on the cover of Better homes and gardens February issue. They lookes so beautiful that I just had to make them. Good thing I read the magazine weeks in advance. Because you have to make the vanilla sugar 2 weeks prior to making the cookies. And these cookies would just be plain ol' sugar cookies without the vanilla sugar. They were so amazingly good!! Then my cute little cousin Jenna turned 2 on Valentin's day. She is the most precious little girl. Her and Brody are exactly 2 weeks apart, and they were both born 2 weeks early! They just love each other. So far I have made all of the cakes for Jenna and her older sister's Jadynn, and Jaycie. This year Jenna was having a bubble gum party, because bubble gum is her favorite thing. So she got a bubble gum cake!!
Here is another picture of it. This cake was so much fun to make, I was wanting to put a bubble gum rope on it that I had seen at the store years ago. But I couldn't find one, so she just got lots of gum balls on it.

We had such a crazy weekend like most of them we were so busy. We had a funeral to attend on Sat in our home town, and we had to drive home (to our hometown) separatly because my husband and I's schedules were just off the wall. Both of our parents are from the same area. So we were back and forth all weekend long from one house to the other. On Valentines day my sweet husband surprised me with the most beautiful flowers and card. He always finds the most thoughtful cards, I love them. He also planned to have my mom and his mom watch our two boys together so we could go out to eat and watch a movie. I can not even begin to tell you how wonderful it was. We have not been on a date since brody was born. We hate asking people to watch the boys and besides that we just loving spending time with them. But it was so wonderful, it took me back to when we first met and would go out on dates. He is still just as sweet and amazing now as he was back then. I am so blessed to have found such a wonderful husband. I hope everyone has had a wonderful and memerable Valentine's Day.

Birthday

This past Sunday was my little (oldest baby) birthday!! I don't know about you other moms out there, but on his birthday I always find myself at some point getting teary eyed. I always get so sentimental and just so over joyed that we are lucky enough to be his parents, just thinking about it makes me tear up all over again. Brody turned two this year, and I am always so thankful for him. Out of my two boys my pregnancy with him was by far the hardest. I had some complications, and that 9 mo. period was by far the most stressed out & emotional period of my life. Two major events happened with him when I was pregnant. The first my grandfather (who I am very close to) became ill during my 3 or 4th month, and by the time my 6th month came he had passed away. My poor little Brody had to feel all of the stress and hurt I was going through, but that amazing little boy also helped me get past it. And the second thing that happened was that in my 8th month, I found out that my mom had cancer, and that is what did me in putting me into labor...early. But our wonderful little boy made it through just fine and when he was born he looked at Wes and I and gave us the sweetest little smile, and all was right with the world again. Now that he is 2 he doing so much and learning so much every day. I find it so amazing to watch how his mind works, and how he learns. He has started coping us when we talk, and he is playing like a little boy now. He seems like he has grown up over night.

We had to cancel his party because it snowed and had iced so badly this weekend, so we will be having it next weekend. Luckily we had planned ahead and we had our own little family party at the house, it was really nice. He was excited to open his presents and eat his cupcake and ice cream. We sang Happy Birthday to him randomly all day long. I think by the end of the night he stared to realize that it was his special day. Now we are getting ready for his big party this weekend. His cousins and friends from daycare will be there along with some of my friends from high school and their children. It will be a lot of fun, he will be very excited.
